Junior Golf Association
The Junior Golf Association provides a wholesome, fun environment for children ages 6 to 18 years to enhance their knowledge, skill, and enjoyment of golf.  The 2008 season officially begins on Friday, May 9th and ends with the Parent/Child Tournament on Wednesday, July30th.

The BHJGA uses the Personal Tee program.  It is a national junior golf program that makes the game easier for kids while encouraging increased participation and an improvement to the pace of play.  Last year, over 60 junior golfers participated in the program at Berkeley Hills Country Club.
Before the start of the Personal Tee program several years ago, two additional sets of forward tees, green and yellow, were permanently installed on all holes.  The green tees average approximately 100 yards to the green.  The yellow tees average approximately 200 yards to the green.  The courses traditional red and gold tees are also used.  Players are assigned to these tees, and the corresponding Personal Tee program, based upon their skill level. Juniors "graduate" from one set of tees to another as they progress through the personal tee curriculum.
Hats, pins, and bag tags are awarded as outward signs to recognize achievement.  These items are wonderful motivators to stimulate the completion of specific skills and each level of the program as young players grow in their understanding of the game of golf.
In addition to shorter fairway yardages, the number of holes that are played in a round of golf is reduced based on skill level.
